Match the height to the mattress
A bedside table works best when its top sits level with, or slightly above, the top of your mattress — high enough to reach a glass of water without looking down, low enough that it does not loom over the bed. Measure your mattress height before choosing.
Drawers or open
Drawers hide the clutter that accumulates beside a bed. Open shelving keeps a small room feeling lighter. In a narrow bedroom, a slim table with one drawer usually beats a wider one with two.
